What is the Room of Requirement
The Room of Requirement is a secret room in Hogwarts that appears when someone urgently needs something. It is a room that shapes itself according to the wishes of its user. In “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, Harry and his friends use the room to train an army of students and prepare for the battle against Voldemort.
In Hogwarts Legacy, you can use this space to grow plants, brew potions or customize your own equipment. Later in the story, you will also have your own enclosures for the animal meadows that you have saved from poachers in the game world.
It is also possible to breed these magical creatures in this place and thus ensure offspring. You can even change the entire appearance of the room to suit your taste. We summarize the most important features for you.
How do I unlock the Room of Requirement?
You don’t have to discover the Room of Requirement in “Hogwarts Legacy” by chance like in the books, as this happens automatically during the course of the role-playing game. Specifically, this is the 21st main mission, The Room of Requirement, which you receive from Professor Weasley. As part of this quest, you will be familiarized with the basic possibilities of the room and also get to know house-elf Deek.
At the beginning of this mission, Professor Weasley also teaches you the Evanesco vanishing spell. You can use this to make certain things disappear in the Room of Requirement in return for moonstones.
Where can I find the Requirement of Requirement later on?
Once you have unlocked the Room of Requirement, you can return to this location at any time to need potions, visit your pets, grow plants or improve your equipment. Incidentally, you don’t have to walk through the entire castle every time you want to return to the Room of Wishes, as there is a dedicated fast travel point that takes you directly to this location.

Incantations & spell instructions
As the room itself does not have everything you need, Professor Weasley will give you a short lesson in incantations during the introduction. Shortly afterwards, you will learn a summoning spell from her.
Spell instructions list the “ingredients”, i.e. resources, required to summon an item. You can find such instructions, for example for a watering station and a planting table, in Hogsmeade in the store Tome and Scrolls.
Required resources such as moonstone can be obtained in the highlands, but you can also easily buy them. You can also obtain resources by making objects disappear from the room.
Summon watering station & plant table
At the beginning, Professor Weasley gives you the task of summoning a potion station and a plant table. You should already be familiar with both stations from your study of magic plants and potion brewing lessons.
Assign the summoning spell to one of your spell sets to be able to access it. As soon as you cast the spell, the Summon menu opens. Select the first option, Potions, and then choose from four different potion stations, which only differ in terms of their appearance.
You only need two moonstones to summon these wards. To increase the budget for summons in the Room of Requirement, you should complete further missions.
Where you place your furnishings in the Room of Requirement is largely up to you. You can use walls as a guide, but you can also place stations in the middle of the room. Note that objects can be rotated and docked.
Next, go to the Herbology menu item. Here you will find items to grow plants. Choose a planting table with a small pot. These stations also require two moonstones for summoning.
Now you can brew potions and grow plants, provided you have the appropriate potion ingredients or seeds. You can find these in Hogsmeade or outside the castle grounds.
Note: Summon, change and vanish spells can only be used in the Room of Wishes.
Room of Requirement: How to change the look
You can also customize the look of the room of your dreams with decorative elements. For example, there are wall and floor decorations to redesign the room. There is a separate category for both in the summoning menu.
Once you have also completed this task from Professor Weasley, you will finally learn the alteration spell. This allows you to customize summoned items. This allows you to change the colors, patterns and styles of your furniture to suit your taste. Simply point your wand at summoned objects and then select the alteration spell.
Next, you can take on bigger challenges. Because you can also apply the change spell directly to the room. This allows you to redesign the floor or the balcony, for example. To change the entire ambience of the room, go to the house elf Deek.
Once you have addressed it, you can adjust the overall concept. These four options are available:
- A cool, moonlit atmosphere
- Warm and cozy would be nice
- Natural and down to earth would be nice

Note: You can have Deek change the style of the room again at any time.
How to enlarge the room of wishes
Once you have spoken to the house elf, the Room of Wishes will automatically expand, creating a huge new area. If you want to customize the room even further in the future, you can do so with further spell instructions. You can find these inside and outside the school. You should also complete further side missions from house-elf Deek to further enlarge the room.
Keeping animals in the Room of Requirement
In “Hogwarts Legacy”, various beasts can be rescued and then placed in the Room of Requirement. Within the 28th main quest called The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom, you will not only receive a Nab-Sack to catch the magical creatures in the game world, but also access to the Vivarium, the first animal enclosure.
Through the Room of Wishes, you can now enter the animal enclosure, which provides space for the first animal creatures.
