Community pleads with Blizzard: “HOTS deserves a revival”

Blizzard is no longer what it used to be. After the Activision Blizzard merger, a lot has changed under Bobby Kotick. However, the head of Activision Blizzard has now stepped down and a lot is sure to change at the then very popular development studio over the next few years.

It is not yet possible to fully predict where the journey will take us under new management. Activision Blizzard will become part of Microsoft and who knows what the new authorities have planned. But maybe we’ll be lucky and the view of the popular Blizzard games will change.

Heroes of the Storm verdient Revival

There is one thing the Blizzard community is sure of, despite the negative press and many mistakes made in the past, they are still holding on to their favorite games. Games like Heroes of the Storm have been unjustly neglected and deserve a proper revival.

Can this really happen after the Microsoft takeover? Something is happening on the HOTS front.

The strong will of the community is evident from the announcement of the PTR patch on April 16, 2024, among other things. X (formerly Twitter) is ablaze with the announcement that HOTS is getting an update.

But first things first: the update doesn’t bring any new heroes or new maps – but it does bring a few bug fixes and balancing changes. So is it time for a return to Heroes of the Storm?

The community is still there!

Not quite yet: the big signal is still missing. The sign from Blizzard that they haven’t forgotten HOTS. This would be underlined by major innovations such as new heroes, skins and brand new game cards, while others would like to see a release on Steam and a comeback of the Storm League e-sports league.

Zakary (@PrestonRayne) jokingly writes that a Master Chief skin would look great:

The fans are longing for a HOTS 2.0. Pedro Otoni, for example, writes the following:

“Why don’t you make a HotS 2.0 or something? This game was great. The heroes are great. The maps, unique mechanics and everything. I think the team level and the lack of feeling of being full destroyed the game.”

These many wishes could one day become reality under the new Microsoft patronage at Activision Blizzard. After a 3-year break, there are now at least the first changes to the balancing. A first signal?

Fans are eagerly awaiting a revival of Heroes of the Storm and we are waiting with them.

But what do you think? Would you be happy about a really big comeback and full Blizzard support or would you rather play games that weren’t dropped as mercilessly as HOTS? Write it in the comments and discuss it with us.
