There are spells and there are charms in the Wizarding World, the universe of the “Harry Potter” books. And that’s how it is in Hogwarts Legacy. A very special category of spells concerns the deadly Unforgivable Curses.
In this solution you will learn everything about the Unforgivable Curses that a wizard or witch should probably not use in this magical world.

Unforgivable Curses in Hogwarts Legacy
What Unforgivable Curses are there? In total there are three different spells that fall into this category. But what are they actually?
Avada Kedavra
Avada Kedavra is a devastating death spell, killing enemies instantly.
Crucio
The Unforgivable Curse is a powerful and malevolent spell that causes enemies to writhe in pain. At the same time, they take damage over time, while victims gain the “cursed” status. This causes them to suffer additional damage.
Imperio
Imperio is an Unforgivable Curse of a slightly different kind. Because with Imperio you can force opponents to fight at your side. When given this curse, they take less damage from other enemies. The status “cursed” also applies here.
How do I unlock the Unforgivable Curses?
Where can I find the Unforgivable Curses? With the Deluxe Edition or the Collector’s Edition you get access to the Dark Arts Pack, which allows you to unlock the Unforgivable Curses for the Arena.

How exactly do I unlock it? Access is via the Dark Arts Battle Arena. Once you’ve reached the point where you have the Revelio spell, you’re ready to go.
The battle arena in question is located in the Forbidden Forest. Leave Hogwarts and head north. It is located near the river at the bend to the west (right in the Forbidden Forest).
When you arrive at the Dark Arts Battle Arena, you have to uncover urns (you need Revelio for this). After 10 urns have been destroyed, the fight can begin. You then fight against waves of enemies.
Within the arena you have direct access to the Unforgivable Curses. In this case, access to these death spells is limited to the arena itself.
Now you can curse as much as you want in the Dark Arts Arena. But is this the only way to unlock the curses?
No, in the free Wizarding World you can also wander around with them and end lives aimlessly.
How can I learn Unforgivable Curses?
When you have progressed so far in the story that you have unlocked the side mission In the Shadow of the Bloodline, it begins. Your Slytherin friend Sebastian Sallow needs your help!
- Crucio is available via Quest: In the Shadow of the Study – from level 16
- You learn Imperio through the quest: In the Shadow of Time – from level 17
- Avada Kedavra is available through the quest: In the Shadow of the Relic – from level 28
Basically all quests are logical and simple. Just help Sebastian with his problems in the catacombs and the spells are yours.
Avada Kedavra is given at the end as a big final reward, so to speak.
Remember that you can strengthen the spells via talents. The Dark Arts buffs cause enemies near Crucio and Imperio to also be affected. And Avada Kedavra kills all enemies you previously cursed with Crucio and Imperio.
Can I still learn the Unforgivable Curses later? Yes, if you decide against learning it, just talk to Sebastian again later.
