In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, there are a wide variety of blunderbusses with which you can equip your favorite heroes. However, not all weapons are tied to normal game progress and not all weapons can be purchased directly from the store.

In this walkthrough, I’ll tell you what you need to do to get a special weapon for Barret. Today it’s all about Fafnir, a top-class shooting arm!

But where can I find Fafnir? And what do I have to do to enjoy this extravagant thunderbolt?

Is Fafnir a good weapon in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?

The first question is whether the search for this special weapon is even worthwhile for Barret. After all, do we have to put in some effort to get our hands on it?

But a look at Fafnir’s special ability soon reveals the strength of this weapon. Fafnir has a very powerful skill called Approximation Shot.

Barret can fire an extremely powerful shot with the approximation shot. This is a close quarter combat skill. But this CQC skill is truly devastating.

With Fafnir’s approximation shot, we can fire a super powerful shot with 3x ATB bars at once.

So if you have raised your ATB bar to 3x via the synchronized abilities, the weapon is a real boss, as it puts all three charge points into a single shot and the strength increases exponentially as a result. Where a Fafnir hits, grass no longer grows.

Prerequisite for the activation of Fafnir

In order to unlock Fafnir, you must have fulfilled a basic requirement. You can only get your hands on the weapon if you can move freely in the Gongaga region from Chapter 9 onwards.

If this is the case, you must first activate the quest: The Dream of the Perfect Weapon on the notice board in Gongaga. You can then unpack your Forest Chocobo and travel to the center of the Gongaga region. Simply follow the marker to the house.

Now talk to the weaponsmith Izo. He tells us about his plan and Barret is immediately on board. Now we first have to find Izo’s shed and get some pictures with locations.

But where is the shed actually located? To be honest, I had to look for it for a very, very long time. And if you can’t find the shed like I did, take a look at the map here. That should help you find it quickly!

So Izo’s shed is a little further south of the armory. It’s basically hard to miss, but I was looking much closer to Izo’s house the whole time. That was the problem.

Solve the puzzle with the pictures!

Now we find a handful of pictures in Izo’s shed that send us to certain places. You can now run through these pictures one by one if you recognize them. Simply follow the pictures in the order given from 1 to 5 and you will arrive at your destination.

If you can’t do anything with the pictures, I’ll include the direct destination point on the map here. And yes, it’s enough if you just walk to the destination point. You don’t have to walk through all the pictures individually.

This is the quickest way to reach your destination. It doesn’t always have to take a long time?

8x Dragon Ore for the perfect weapon!

Take a close look at the map. The rope hangs right at the tip of the arrow (see picture below). To the right of the rope are the first units of dragon ore that you need to collect. You can recognize the dragon ore by its distinctive blue color.

The first two piles of ore are located in the target area right by the rope. And once you have collected the dragon ore here, you can take the rope and climb up the mountain.

At the top, run briefly to the right towards the slope. Jump to the edge and then turn around. Look into the corners. The dragon ore is well hidden on the edges, but nothing is safe from our eagle eyes!

Then just walk a little further, up onto the cliff into the middle passage. From the last screenshot, keep going straight ahead to get deeper into the upper forest of Gongaga. Not a few meters away, you will also receive the other dragon ore items.

All you have to do is keep your eyes open and look very carefully, as the dragon ore deposits here are all around you in the shadows. So it’s not necessarily easy to see the dragon ore. But if you need help, you can simply use our pictures here as a guide.

Once you have collected all eight Dracher Ore units, the mission is as good as done. Now it’s back to the weaponsmith. Izo is already looking forward to his dragon ore.

After we have given Izo the dragon ore, he immediately starts making the new weapon for Barret.

As mentioned at the beginning, it’s really worth equipping this weapon and learning the weapon’s ability. This way you can use the approximation shot skill permanently even if Barret no longer has the weapon equipped at some point.
