Early on in the storyline of Baldur’s Gate 3, you will be asked to find the Githyanki Crèche in order to have the Illithid larva removed.

Wo finde ich die Githyanki-Krippe in BG3?
In Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3, you will meet the Githyanki Lae’zel north of the crashed Nautiloid. Free her and she will ask you to find and visit the local crèche of her people.
Apparently, this is the protocol of their race when it comes to getting rid of illithid larvae. There are only two questions: where is this crib supposed to be and what can you do there?
Northwest of the druid grove, on the road leading to the mountain pass, you will meet members of Lae’zel’s people. They will tell you that the crèche is on the mountain pass itself.
Either go there directly or experience adventures in the Underrealm first. One path does not exclude the other, so you don’t have to worry about this.
The mountain pass can be reached both from the aforementioned road and from the Cursed Lands. Simply travel east from the Last Light Inn.
But be warned: both the Mountain Pass and the Lower Realm are considered other areas. If you take a long rest there, events may be triggered around the Druid Grove.
For example, if you already know that the druids want to seal off the grove with an ancient ritual and then spend the night on the mountain pass, the grove will be sealed off when you return.
So make sure that you have either completed all the relevant quests around the Druid Grove or limit yourself to short rests in the other regions. But now back to the Githyanki Crib.
As already mentioned, you will find this in the north of the mountain pass. Find the fast travel point Trielta Rocks on the map and follow the path north from there.
On your way you will meet the adventurer Dame Esther, who will offer you an optional quest: To steal the Githyanki egg in Baldur’s Gate 3 or not?
From Esther, the route continues northwards, where you finally have two options: Either use the cable car on the slope or continue along the path.
Both routes will eventually lead you to Rosymorn Monastery, where the Githyanki Crèche is located, but the cable car is of course much faster. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been used for ages.
If you want to use them, you must first make a Strength roll. Alternatively, smear the winch of the track with a bottle of oil or the smear spell/scroll.
When you arrive at the monastery, activate the fast travel point Rosymorn Monastery. You can then either go straight inside or browse through the ruins.

Baldur’s Gate 3: What you can do in the Githyanki Crèche
Before you can continue your adventure in the crèche, you must of course first find a way in. There are a total of three options available to you, but there is one common denominator.
Namely Lae’zel. If you don’t have the Githyanki in your party, it will be much more difficult to move freely in the crèche. It is therefore advisable to take Lae’zel with you, at least for this section.
If you completely refuse to have the loud-mouthed lady as your companion, you must be able to persuade the guards in the crèche or you will have to fight your way out.
We can’t recommend the last option, as it will ruin any kindness in the crèche. However, you can still get the blood of Lathander and the Githyanki egg.
- The Main Entrance: Use the main entrance of Rosymorn Monastery to enter the Githyanki crèche. Requires a hard throw in lock picking.
- The side entrance: To the east of the monastery ruins is a side entrance to the monastery which is not locked.
- The back entrance: There is a secret entrance to the south of the monastery, which is also not locked.
Whichever entrance you choose, you will be stopped inside by Githyanki guards. Lae’zel will handle the conversation. Alternatively, you can also persuade the guards.
Using the Zaith’isk in the infirmary
The infirmary is located in the south-western part of the crèche, the place where Lae’zel wants to go anyway. This is exactly where the Zaith’isk is used to remove the illithid larvae.
On your way to Ghistil Stornugoss, who operates the Zaith’isk, you come across Githyanki children torturing a Gremishka in a crate. Whether you interfere here or not is irrelevant.
Talk to Ghistil in the treatment room, but first decide who should talk to the researcher, as this character will then have to undergo the procedure.
The following events have no further influence on your larva’s condition, but are relevant to advancing Lae’zel’s personal quest and strengthening the companion’s loyalty.
The Inquisitor and the blood of Lathander
Visit the captain’s quarters in the north-east of the crib and speak to Kith’rak Therezzyn there to continue the quest of Lae’zel. You must show the artifact to the commander in order to make progress here.
As some companions will not like it if you hand over the artifact, you should switch to Lae’zel first and have the conversation with her. Either way, the artifact remains in your possession.
Alternatively, you can also kill the commander and take the stone you need to remove the disruptive energy barrier and reach the Inquisitor.
In this case, however, you have the same problem as when you violently invade the Githyanki crib: you suddenly have to massacre everything and everyone and Lae’zel likes you much less.
Once you have overcome the barrier, you can steal the blood of Lathander, defeat the Inquisitor in battle and make the acquaintance of the Queen of the Githyanki.
Four more activities in the Y’llek crèche
This means that the two most important locations in the Githyanki Crib in Baldur’s Gate 3 have already been covered. The remaining activities are purely optional and have no influence on the further plot of the game.

- Trade: South of the fast travel point you will find the quartermaster A’jak’nir Jeera, with whom you can trade.
- Githyanki methods: In the classroom north of the fast travel point, you can speak with warrior instructor Sa’varsh Kethk to influence the fate of the young warrior Varrl.
- Vandalism: In the corridor leading to both the Hatchery and the Infirmary, there is a picture of the Inquisitor that you can scribble on. Just don’t get caught doing it.
